My Mission

I help Florida Educators create a plan to immediately or eventually transition into something new.  Some call this retirement, some call it pivoting or reinventing – but it all comes down to crafting a fluid Life Plan.  I help you build a supportive financial foundation to free you to fulfill your vision and live your life.

How Am I Different?

You have a lot of choices when it comes to choosing a Financial Advisor!  So, in addtion to my credentials – Certified Financial Planner™, Certified Wealth Strategist® and National Social Security Advisor Certificate Holder, here are three ways I am different:

1.  I deliberately focus my concierge practice on fewer than 100 select clients and their families.  Why?  Because I can give more attention to relationships and really get to know my clients and their families.  Your access to me is not thwarted by an automated service or assistant - you are given my cell phone number to use to text or call me directly.  My energy, commitment and efforts are focused on you, the client.  For this reason, I am intentional about who I take on as a client and only engage with individuals who I think would be a good fit for my practice and vice versa. That is why the first step in my process is a 30 minute phone call where we determine if there is a fit between what you are looking for and what I can deliver.  Minimum investable assets are $250k.

2.  I am virtual! Since before the pandemic, I have embraced a virtual practice and am constantly striving to improve my technology in order to deliver to you a streamlined, meaningful and productive experience.  I am so comfortable with this process that I invite you to embrace it too! I believe that being virtual has made the time I spend with my clients more efficient and focused resulting in a wonderful blend of art and science.

3.  My “beach bag” contains a vast number of services and strategies, specially crafted over decades of experience to help streamline your retirement.

The essence of who I am and what I do comes to life through the experience I deliver to my clients.

To Laura Thompson, living well means living with a sense of authenticity, a sense of security, and the freedom to pursue a dream.

It means going to the Keys to tarpon fish and scuba dive, enjoying a stroll along St. Augustine's historic St. George Street, or actively working to help make her community a better place.

It means practicing yoga and spending time with her horse and her family.

It means having fun and having a meaningful life.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, Laura helps people plan to realize dreams of their own. She advises a select clientele - State of Florida employees - who want to sustain or enhance their lifestyle in an active retirement.

Laura, too, has lived an active life. She grew up in Northern Virginia, swimming competitively for over a decade; to this day, she loves the water and anything that has to do with the beach.

After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Public Relations, Laura looked for a career that would allow her to help people in a direct and meaningful way. Financial planning meant more than just numbers; it meant collaborating with families to fulfill dreams. She helps great minds craft purposeful financial futures...

Laura is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA), and Altrusa International of Lake City, Florida.

Members of the Financial Planning Association meet with State Senator David Simmons.
